WCRA July Meeting 2024

Date:  July 12th, 2024

Time: 7:30 PM

PROGRAM: Light Adjustable Lens (for cataract replacement)

The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)

Overview of conventional cataract (IOL lens)

Light Adjustable lens has advantages, and disadvantages — the main
disadvantage is a cost premium.

Some illustration of how the uV light can re-shape the lens after the
lens has been implanted a few weeks. Then there are two lock-in
treatments which  make the lens not respond to uV thereafter.

Also presented is information on “defocus curves” for lenses.

By the time of the presentation, the presenter will have had two eyes
with these lenses implanted.

Attend: REMOTE ONLY

In Person: Due to the July 4th holiday and moving our meeting date. we are unable to meet in person in July at DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management

Steve Peterson recently emailed out the current version of the club roster. If you did not receive it and would like a copy please email secretary@w9ccu.org

In addition to in person attendance; Zoom video conference; and Zoom conference call all being recognized ways in our bylaws to vote on the proposal, our articles of incorporation also permit voting by proxy.

If you wish to vote by proxy, please contact me as soon as practicable so we can make arrangements to verifiably receive such by email, or send a letter via US Mail or hand delivered to a club officer designating a specific member or the recording officer of the meeting to act as your proxy.  Such a letter may also include instructions on how to vote on your behalf.  If submitting via US Mail, please use the club PO Box 1055, Wheaton, IL  60187.

From the Annual Meeting minutes:

A motion was made and seconded to amend article XI, paragraph 3 of the bylaws to read, “no member of the executive board shall serve concurrently as a member of the RAB with the exception of the club station license trustee.

An excerpt from the bylaws follows with the proposal appearing in red

ARTICLE XI REPEATER ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD:

[portion not at issue in the proposed amendment removed for brevity]

Selection of Members – The RAB members shall be FULL members of the Club, and shall be selected according to the following rules:

1) Each fiscal year the Executive Board shall appoint two members to the RAB, each to serve a two-year term. Reappointments shall be allowed. If any RAB member resigns, the Executive Board shall appoint a member to serve for the balance of the term of the member who has resigned.

2) The Trustee of the Club’s repeater license shall serve for an indefinite period. The Executive Board shall have the authority to replace the Trustee at any time, consistent with Article X of the By-Laws. The Trustee of the Club’s repeater license shall be a member of the RAB.

3) No member of the Executive Board shall serve concurrently as a member of the RAB with the exception of the club station license trustee.

4) Upon appointment of a member to the RAB, the Executive Board shall ask for a vote of confirmation from the Club members present at a regular meeting.

[portion not at issue in the proposed amendment removed for brevity]

The formatting of the above isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as the formally published bylaws, but has been provided in this format due to the certainty of its receipt by all members.

DUES ARE PAST DUE

You can renew online, thru the mail, or in person at an in-person meeting or event.

VOLUNTEERS for the club Insider!

I, am looking for someone to take over for the WCRA Newsletter. I volunteered to do this for one year and I have one more issue for my commitment to the membership. Anyone want to step up?

Sincerely,  Frank Krozel
