Letter from Out Going President/VP

As many of you know I have had a loss of hearing in recent weeks and my hearing has gotten worse in just the last few weeks.  I saw a my audiologist and he wanted me to see an ENT doctor which I did. He had me get an MRI of the brain and brain stem and the auditory canal.  I then went to see a surgeon at Loyola. I learned that I have a tumor in the brain.  My doctor at Loyola advised me that my loss of hearing was permanent. This type of tumor is normally considered to be benign in 99% of the cases. The doctor at Loyola advised me that I am not a candidate for radiation or surgery because of my age. He advised me that I will need an MRI every 6 months to follow the progress of the tumor.

As you know I have told the club for the last four months that I would not run for President to fill out the remaining President’s term. This new revelation assures my previous position of not serving the club in any officer position. I plan to continue as a member and be as active as possible.

If the club is going to go forward we need someone to step up and take the reins.  You have a great group of officers that will support you like they have supported me.

At the March meeting no one came forward to be President or Vice President.  The VP’s position is mainly responsible for meeting programs. I have done both positions for the last 5 months.

Carol has again agreed to be a candidate for the treasurer’s position.

This club cannot function as a legal entity without a PRESIDENT.  If you want the club to continue someone must step forward to lead the club.

As a side note from the March meeting:

At the March regular meeting a committee was appointed to develop the changes needed to the club’s bylaws so members can attend all future meetings by Zoom with voting rights. The committee will present their work at the April meeting and the changes will be voted on at the May meeting.
